In continuation of last weeks launch of FirstFleet Mobile we have now released the newly updated FirstFleet Mobile application for Apple / iOS users. This new version of the application is packed full of features and tools to help streamline your day and give our drivers, mechanics, dispatchers, customers and back office support teams ready access to helpful information.

With any new release of software we anticipate a few hiccups along the way, but we thank you for embracing the FirstFleet Core Value of Embracing Change as a Reality of Progress. Mobile App Release 2.1

Version 2.1 of the FirstFleet Mobile app is being released today. This build is a continuation of our last user interface change with simplified tiles. There are a few new features that have been requested by the community of users and we are excited to release them today. The Android platform is presently accessible and ready for download but the Apple iOS version is still pending approval. You should expect to see that hit the App Store in a few days.

New Features

Secure Employee Inbox - This version of the app bring new functionality that allows us to push secure messaging regarding your employment experience, benefits and other important messages directly to the app for your review.
Trip Details in Payroll - Previous versions of the app did not allow you to review specific orders and movements on a paycheck. This build extends that process by one additional level so that details of specific trips can be retrieved.
Maintenance Team Tools - Our maintenance team will see a new tile specifically geared toward their needs which allows review of an Asset (tractors only in this build). This tile will allow quick retrieval of asset details including outstanding DVIR & PM schedules and active ECM faults.
Load Tracking by Trailer Number - Partners have always had load tracking but in this build of the app you are able to track by trailer number or reference number.

Please note that at present time the release is only available for Android. The Apple build has been submitted for release but is still pending approval. For more details please visit this link for options to download the app today.

9.11 - We Will Never Forget

We will never forget the horrific events of 9/11/2001. Fifteen years ago today our country was the victim of a brutal attack on our soil that lead to the loss of 3,000 innocent people. The events of this day have impacted the lives of those directly connected to the act of terrorism and countless others around the world. In one way or another this day continues to have impact on us as we grieve losses and work to create a safer tomorrow.

Today we remember the loss of many and honor those who have responded with courage to the call of freedom. We are as Americans blessed with freedoms and opportunity that to many in the world are beyond comprehension. The freedoms we enjoy are not without great cost, and to those who have served our country with bravery we owe a great debt of gratitude.

As transportation professionals we realize that our team is largely on the move. It is our sincere hope that wherever you find yourself today you are able to take a moment to remember the loss of many and give thanks for the service of those who have worn the flag.

May God bless you, your family and may God bless America.

Across the land today flags are flying, grills are being fired up and people will gather to celebrate 240 years of our great nation. Our founding fathers believed in the hope of a nation where freedom abounds and they would willingly lay their lives down in that declaration.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

We owe a great debt to countless men and women who have worn the flag of our country in effort to preserve and protect the freedoms we enjoy each day. Today we honor the sacrifices and service of each passing generation that we might remain the land of the free and the home of the brave. May we never take the blessings of freedom for granted or forget its cost.

Today we recognize that as transportation professionals many of our extended family are on the road - delivering the goods that keep our country moving forward. We are blessed to be a company of men and women who take great pride in their work and service to our customers. It is our great hope that today you are able to celebrate and take pride in our nation - regardless of where you find yourself on the map.

Today we celebrate the arrival of a new year. Events like this are often a cause for reflection of the previous season and hopeful anticipation of the next. 2015 was a wonderful year for FirstFleet in many ways. We welcomed many new members to our team and grew the footprint of the organization into new horizons thanks to the hard work and dedication of the entire organization.

You should be proud of the work you have invested and the company we are building together. Our shipping partners are a critical part of our nation's economy and you have served them well by providing consistent and professional service. Thank you for the integrity you have in your daily tasks.

Looking forward we are hopeful and excited for all that 2016 will bring. To begin with 2016 marks the 30th year of business for FirstFleet! Founded in 1986 with the idea of delivering unwavering customer service we have remained committed to that original vision and it continues to serve as the platform for new business development.

Another exciting point to discuss for 2016 are the initiatives that are going into effect 1/1/2016 surrounding PTO, Vacation, 401k contribution and others which came out of discovery conversations and surveys with our driver community. If you missed this announcement take a moment to catch up to speed on how these programs will work and what options you now have as an employee of FirstFleet.

As always, the life of a Professional Driver can be challenging, and there is great possibility your celebration of the new year will be somewhat different than the traditional. Mobile App Updates!

Response to our mobile app has been great, and we are grateful for your feedback and suggestions to make the app better. Today we have an exciting new release to announce that includes additional functionality for our driver community which allows our drivers to be more productive and connected when away from the cab.

The latest release now available on the app store and play store enables drivers to access features which allow them to interact with details of their electronic logs and personal fuel performance.

For those of you already using the application these features are designed to work in a consistent manner with the rest of the application, and they will be automatically added when you next update the app. For those of you not using the application here are a few screenshots to give you a taste of the look and feel of these items.

Mobile Apps - Apple & Android

Today we are excited to announce that the FirstFleet Mobile app is now released for Apple iOS and Android platforms. The FirstFleet Mobile app is a quickly enhancing means of interacting with FirstFleet for both employees and customers. The app is designed to allow easy interaction with important details of pay, load assignment, load tracking and POD retrieval. If you are a FirstFleet employee or customer we hope you will find this tool helpful.

How do I get started?

The first step is to visit the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to install the app on your device. You will find the application by searching FirstFleet in the stores.

How do I login?

The app requires a login using a secure username and password. The username and password are the same username and password that you use at www.firstfleetinc.com. If you have not created these credentials or need an email reminder of the password you will be prompted when the app launches with these options.

What else can I do?

In the near future drivers will have access to fuel economy and hours of service. In addition to these planned enhancements we are committed to evolving this application over time. We would love your feedback on how we can make this a custom tool to better meet the needs of those interacting with FirstFleet. Inside the app you will see a small gear icon - after tapping that icon you will have the ability to submit your ideas and feedback. We welcome your thoughts and look forward to interacting with you on them.

Mobile App New Build

A couple weeks ago we launched our first version of the FirstFleet Mobile Application. The response to this app roll-out has been great, and we are very excited about the future of how we can use this app to streamline the flow of communication with employees and business partners.

Today we are announcing a few exciting enhancements that are designed to add functionality and speed to the application. An updated version of the FirstFleet App is now ready for install in using this link.

The latest build has some tweaks for performance for employees, and preparation work for mobile uploads of proof of delivery documents. For business partners we have added proof of delivery search (view POD images) and tweaked the load tracking tool for a better experience.

In addition to the new features we are announcing the winner of the Rand McNally GPS device. The winner is Cheryl from our Cleveland TN facility. Cheryl uses the Android app to view assigned loads and check pay history. When we asked Cheryl about the app and her thoughts on it she said...

"I really like how it is more convenient to use on the phone than the previous way of using the internet browser... It just makes things easier."

Thank you to everyone for using the application to interact with your employment experience and for your feedback on how the application might better fit your needs. We intend to keep the enhancement coming based upon the feedback you provide.

For those of you still pending the Apple version we are hard at work to get Apple's stamp of approval on the initial release, and we are hopeful that day is near. When it releases it will have all the functionality of the Android application - it is just going to be a bit longer.

239 years ago our nation was founded on the dream that we would one day be a great nation. It is with great thanks that we remember those who dared to dream big for the future. Let us not forget that with great privilege comes great responsibility, and may today be a day of celebration, hope and unity.

We realize today many of our drivers will be on the road - delivering the goods that keep our country moving forward. Mobile App Release!

We are always looking for ways to leverage technology to provide better service to our business partners and driver community. The smart phone of today packs a powerful computer in the palm of your hand. This computer is not only packed with power, but it is also connected to the web 24x7. This combination of power and connectivity makes great things possible in terms of communication and interaction.

Mobile apps are everywhere it seems. There is a great chance you have a long list of your personal favorites. Today we are releasing a new custom app for Andriod devices. We hope this app will become one of your favorites with time. This application is purpose built with the idea of delivering custom content to our employees and business partners.

The application is designed to supplement the interactions you have online at www.firstfleetinc.com. In our initial release we will not be able to duplicate all of those interactions, but we have covered a strong base of function. The mobile app puts information at your fingertips with the ease you have come to expect a smart phone to provide.

What does it do?

The initial release has functions which are the most commonly used tools today.

Employees - view pay history and load assignments complete with contact information, integrated dialing, mapping and more.
Business Partners - quick and easy access to load tracking today. Proof of delivery will coming very soon!

Moving forward we are committed to building first class features into this application and will work hard to make the feature set grow over time. We hope the initial offering is helpful and are asking for your help to make it better.

To start we would love for you to download the app today. You will find the application in the Google Play Store under the name of FirstFleet or using this link. Once you download and install the application you will need to sign in.

If you are already registered at www.firstfleetinc.com you simply need to login using those same credentials. If you are not registered there is a registration option in the application which will register your account in a few quick and painless steps.

Once you have the application installed use the gear icon to send us feedback with regard to what features or ideas you have for the application. Your feedback is essential to making a great application that fits your needs.

What's in it for me?

As an incentive to get this process moving we are going to give away an in cab navigation device from Rand McNally to one randomly selected employee who downloads and uses the application through 6/30/2015. Each day you use the application will count as one entry into the drawing, increase your chances by using it daily to check your assigned loads or view pay details.

What about the business partners you say? We don't want you left out for sure. We need your help to make functions that target our strong customer base. If you as a partner download and use the app to track a load we will enter your name into a random draw for a gift card to the PlayStore or AppStore. Names will be entered once per day that you use the app to track freight.

Entries valid through 6/30/2015. Winners will be notified via email.

What about Apple?

We are working diligently to get the Apple version of this application ready for use, and are hung up a bit in the approval process with Apple. We will keep at it, and are committed to bringing the same functionality and innovation to both platforms - stay tuned!

Welcome to the latest edition of the FirstFleet newsletter, FirstFocus. In our last release of the corporate newsletter we introduced a new format that was easier to read on any device. This release is the second release of this updated format.

The new format enables us to deliver company information to a broader audience along with being environmentally friendly by reducing the number of printed copies. We will still distribute a smaller number of printed copies in each location for those that are interested in obtaining a copy.

LAUNCHED - New Site

The new and improved www.firstfleetinc.com is now officially launched and ready for use. The new site has a lot of enhanced functions and features all designed with the idea of making information more accessible while you are on the go and at your desk.

The next time you visit www.firstfleetinc.com you will find things don't look like they did the last time you visited the site. To help with this transition we have created a set of tutorials to bring you up to speed with the new form and function. We know change can be hard, and we have worked very hard to keep the tools simple and easy to use. We hope you are pleased with the results.

There are two broad groupings of users that use our site with regularity - Employees and Business Partners. The tips and tricks to get started will be slightly different for both groups because these groups use the site in very different ways. To best service both groups we have broken the tutorials into two groupings - choose the most appropriate as you read through this post.

NO NEED TO RE-REGISTER
If you already have an account it has been migrated to the new version of the site. If you have logged in at www.firstfleetinc.com in the past there is no need to re-register. You will simply use the same username and password as always.

Employee

The "Employee" of FirstFleet covers a broad group of users - drivers, mechanics, dispatch staff, accountants... a large group of over 2,200 people. So when we speak of the Employee @ FirstFleet we are not able to cover each specific user and their every day tasks, but we have tried hard to cover the basics of how to login, how to navigate the site, view pay, etc. To view these tutorials please have a look at the FirstFleet Employee Tech Tools link found here.

Business Partners

The Business Partners of FirstFleet are some of the most respected in our economy. We are proud to be aligned with these organizations in partnerships that have spanned decades. We recognize the role that FirstFleet plays in the life-cycle of their production and that the data we provide these partners must have great integrity. The enhancements to the tools impacting Business Partners are largely focused on mobility and speed of search. FirstFleet is a company that was founded in 1986 based upon the premise that we would deliver excellent service to our partners that was unequaled in the marketplace. Tim Rigby - 3 Million Miles!

Tim works out of Bluffton, IN delivering multi-stop grocery loads, and has been with FirstFleet, Inc. since 1989.

Mr. Rigby says he has accomplished this safe driving feat by anticipating other drivers errors, by not being in a hurry, and by staying aware of his surroundings, other vehicles, pedestrians, and those in a hurry.

FirstFleet is extremely proud of Tim Rigby, our fourth 3 million mile safe driver.

Coming Soon - Electronic Logs!

We are excited to announce the implementation of electronic logs for FirstFleet. You may hear QHOS (Qualcomm Hours of Service) is coming to your fleet. The CSA program is a government program that is designed to level the playing field by providing good visibility into a carrier’s safety performance – in relation to their peers. This program provides clear access into what was once lost in the details of a safe stat score.

FirstFleet wants to be a leader in our industry and is deploying the electronic hours of service solution to replace the paper log process. This will help to protect our industry leading safety position and improve our companies CSA scores. This process is being rolled out now to the majority of our fleet that is currently equipped with capable in cab devices. This transition will take place over the next 6 months for all tractors that are currently equipped with a Qualcomm unit.

Here are a few benefits to using electronic logs:

Easier to manage than paper
To the minute logging = more drive time
Driver are always aware of their available hours
Dispatch is aware of a drivers available hours

We are currently live with 425 units!

Memorial Day 2012

Thanking those who have sacrificed for our country and thanking those who continue to serve in our armed forces.

Rick Atkins - TN Driver of the Year!

FirstFleet is proud to announce that Rick Atkins of Cleveland,TN was honored on April, 28 2012 by the Tennessee Trucking Association as the Tennessee truck driver of the year.

Rick has been with FirstFleet since 1988, is a two million mile safe driver, a member of the Tennessee Highway Road Team, a FirstFleet Driver Trainer, and pastor of New Providence Baptist Church.

In accepting the award Rick thanked FirstFleet for the opportunity to work here, he thanks the ownership and his management team, fellow drivers in his profession, and his wife Kathy, for her love and support in everything he does.

FirstFleet is proud of the accomplishments of Rick as the 2012 Tennessee Commercial Driver of the Year and we are glad he is on our team!

2012 Driver Trainer Meeting

FirstFleet’s 2012 driver trainer meeting, was held in Murfreesboro, Tn. on April 13-14. Driver trainers from FirstFleet locations around the country were welcomed by FirstFleet President Gary Wilson, and Vice Presidents David Beeny and Daniel Piper .

This year marked FirstFleet’s 16th annual trainer meeting. In depth discussions were held on the federal governments CSA program, and where FirstFleet stands in comparison to other carriers with 500 or more trucks. Fuel buying habits and MPG were discussed in detail from industry and company representatives with regard to how everyone is responsible for controlling this huge operating cost.

Austin Henderson, FirstFleet’s Director of IT Innovation, went into a great explanation on the new tools available on the FirstFleet web site for everyone’s information and use. If you have not checked out the mobile version of the site we encourage you to take a fresh look at what is offered there.

The meeting was highlighted by the three million mile safe driving award to Ronnie May of Cleveland ,TN. This award amounts to a 24 year safe driving record for Mr. Mays - quite an accomplishment.

A complete review of this year’s meeting is available from the safety department along with the FirstFleet driver trainer manual presented to those present. FirstFleet has made a strong commitment to safety, our driver trainers play a huge roll to caring that commitment back to each FirstFleet location. As a valuable employee of our company we hope that you might attend a future trainer meeting!

Ronnie May - Three Million Miles

FirstFleet is proud to announce, the Three Million Mile safe driving accomplishment of Ronnie May. Mr. May drives out of Cleveland, TN delivering multi-stop grocery deliveries and has been with us since 1987. Thadd Wells, Ronnie’s Terminal Manager, says Ronnie is a model employee, professional, courteous, and now a 24 year, three million mile safe driver

Mr. May says staying alert all the time, and expecting the unexpected are keys to his success, along with caring about the others he shares the road with. Everyone wants to return home safely, and professional drivers have to play a role in making that happen.

FirstFleet is extremely proud of Ronnie May, FirstFleet’s second three million mile safe driver, an extrodinary accomplishment!

Last week FirstFleet's Owner and President Gary Wilson celebrated Mr. May's accomplishment at our 2012 Driver Training event in Murfreesboro, TN where he was presented with an award and decals for his honor.

The cost of fuel, and the use of it, can make or break a trucking company.

Although drivers can’t do anything about the cost of fuel, drivers choices on how they drive can have a big impact on bottom-line fuel economy.

We are creating video's at different locations with drivers who have demonstrated a strong drive to squeeze every mile possible from a gallon of fuel...resulting in exceptional fuel economy. We are asking them to share their tips in achieving more miles per gallon on every trip.

In this video, we are talking with Greg Basham, a driver for our Portland, TN facility. Greg's mpg is currently at 7.87. Greg understands the importance of getting good fuel economy and works hard to keep his MPG average high. He understands that getting good fuel economy helps FirstFleet by lowering their fuel bill, and he also realizes that working hard to get great fuel economy is also a big plus to him because of the extra 2 cents per mile fuel bonus he receives every quarter.

Two Million Miles - Laverne Strange

Mr. Laverne Strange of Ft. Wayne, IN was recently recognized by his employer FirstFleet, Inc, for Two Million Safe Miles driven. Mr. Strange drives for FirstFleet out of our Bluffton, IN facility.

Mr. Strange has been with FirstFleet since 1989 and says that keeping a safe distance around him, watching out for the other drivers and expecting the unexpected are keys to his safe driving success.

Perry Glancy, Laverne’s Fleet Manager at FirstFleet says that Laverne is always at work, has good relationships with fellow drivers and management and is obviously a safe driver.

FirstFleet is proud of Laverne Strange - the company’s 37th Two Million Mile Safe driver.

Mike Farmer - 2 Million Safe Miles

FirstFleet recently recognized Mike Farmer for Two Million Safe Miles driven. Mike, a sixteen year employee, drives out of our Portland, TN facility hauling multi-stop freight. On Monday, November 7, Mike and his family were presented awards during a drivers meeting with over 100 of his fellow professional drivers and peers in attendance.

Mike feels he owes his safe driving record to guidance from the Lord above, and what his father taught him years ago - if you do a job: take your time, do it right, and make sure you know what’s going on around you.

This week is National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. Many people do not know or understand the amount of time a Professional Driver invests in their profession. The demands or a Professional Driver's schedule often do not fit into the conventional 8-5 workday. It is not uncommon for a Professional Driver to begin their day between 10:00 PM and 2:00 AM. Many drivers work 11-14 hours a day and might invest as many as 60-70 hours per week in their career.

FirstFleet is a carrier that is dedicated to meeting the needs of our business partners with excellence. Much of meeting this challenge is supported by our hard working Professional Driver community. Our Professional Drivers are a primary means of interaction with our business partners, and we are grateful for each individual who has joined our team. This week is set aside to honor and celebrate the nearly 2,000 Professional Drivers that support the core of our business.

Thank you for the professional manner in which you conduct yourself, for representing the organization well and for the hours you continually invest in meeting the challenges you are given.

September 11 - Ten Years Later

Sunday marks the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001. We ask you to join us in honoring the memory of the nearly 3,000 innocent people who lost their lives in those mindless attacks as well as keeping in our thoughts and prayers the countless thousands of families who mourn the loss of family, friends and loved ones.

Please also take this time to reflect on the heroes who emerged that tragic day. They were everyday Americans who showed the remarkable bravery, courage and resolve that inspired our nation then and continue to inspire us now.

Dave Hall - Three Million Miles

Today FirstFleet recognized its first driver to reach three million safe driving miles. For twenty four years Dave Hall (Cleveland, TN) has driven FirstFleet trucks without so much as a single preventable accident.

In 2009 Mr. Hall was elected as the Tennessee Trucking Association’s Truck Driver of the Year, and he has previously served on the Tennessee Trucking Association’s Road Team.

Today at the corporate offices of FirstFleet, Inc. Mr. Hall was presented with certificates of recognition and vehicles placards to indicate this distinguished status. We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Hall for his contributions to our industry and to the betterment of our organization through exemplary leadership.

Highway Angel - William Whitehead

The Truckload Carriers Association has named one of our very own as it’s most recent Highway Angel!

William Whitehead out of our Cleveland, TN terminal recently witnessed a passenger vehicle collide with a deer, lose control and come to a stop in the median where it caught on fire. Bill made sure the passengers got out of the car and assisted in extinguishing the fire.

Bill says “I have a daughter who is a single mother, and I hope someone would help her out if she ever needed it”.

For his efforts above and beyond Bill has received the Highway Angel certificate, a lapel pin, and patch. We honor and celebrate the selfless courage Bill exhibits.

Have you ever wished you had access to your dispatch sooner or wished you could get the information when you are away from your truck? A little while ago we released a tool on our website that is designed to give you this information here at www.firstfleetinc.com. This service has been well received because it provides enhanced information such as phone numbers, directions on file, etc - but - it requires that you be near a computer and it isn't designed to push this information to you as soon as possible.

To address this item we are happy to announce an optional service that is designed to deliver dispatch information using email and/or text messages on any mobile device. The video below will step you through how to configure this functionality in a few simple steps. Email readers you may need to click on the title above to view the video on our site. We hope you enjoy using this tool and that it will add efficiency to your dispatch process.

We know it will not apply in all situations around the country, but we are confident it will be of use to many of our fleets as well as help us maintain excellent service for our business partners.
